I remember a friend had them, they seemed easy to keep, but i do know that if you want to propagate the egss, the larvae have to be put into saltwiter for so long, and then transferred back to freshwater..

They are funny to watch, especially at feeding times, they are greedy eaters and you often find the bigger ones steal food from the smaller ones, but they dont bother the fish, dont know if some fish would find it food on the hoof though..

yeah i've had loads of amanos. dead easy to keep! I'd get more than 15 though. in a 6ft tank you will rarely see one. in my 2ft planted tank I had I had about 20 of them plus a few other shrimps. sounds like it will look very impressive though!

50 Tetras is a good amount, I think Craig had to buy 60 Cardinal Tetras to make them visible in the tank.

I think you may need to get 50 Amano shrimps to see them as well!

You'll need at least 100 shrimps for a fully planted 6ft tank. They don't live that long maybe a couple of years, but fear not the other shrimps eat the dead ones so you shouldn't get a massive problem with waste.

I agree about the shrimp....the more the merrier as you deffo won't see them much otherwise.  They do poop alot though...pale sand will show it up a fair bit too (voice of experience).

Rummies are lovely in a big shoal.  I had a shoal of 10 and they looked great so a bigger shoal would look awesome!  I'm down to 5 now so may top the shoal up again :D  They look great with my shoal of 10 lemon tetras too Cool
Slowly, slowly, happy tanky! :D

The other thing with Rummy's is the red contrasts nicely with the green of the plants. I'd also be tempted with mollies because they do a great clean up job and always appear busy.

Definitely need more if you're thinking of them as an algae cleaning crew! The shoal of tetras should look great.

I tried to post this last week but our network went down

great plan on the fish mate, it will look stunning for sure.  I too have kept amanos but the population will decline as for reasons mentioned by Siamesefighter.  There are plenty of suitable fully FW shrimp that will breed in you tank.  You can sell these on too.  I've had amano in the past and they are great fun to watch but for prettiness check out rainbow shrimp, cherry shrimp and crystal red shrimp though the latter have a very high price tag.
